New Music of the Day: Lady Gaga - “Born This Way”
Lead single and title track off Ms. Germanotta’s sophomore effort, which is due to drop May 23.
[gagafrenzy.]
Alright, someone is going to hate me for this, but I really don’t think this song is anything special. I’m so glad I fell out of the Gaga illusion—nevermind the fact that she’s a reinvented version of so many pop artists that came before, but her “performance art” is nothing new: many of my friends at college did it, and many, many, many people before them did it as well. And they better than she. It’s nice that there is someone out there to make the underdogs feel like they are special, but she isn’t the only one making that effort, the others just fly under the radar because…well…they’re underdogs too. And if it’s really a big deal to her, why doesn’t she donate half of her earnings to charities that help young people in trouble? Honestly, the lyrics in this song are terrible, it legitimately sounds to me like she sat down and asked herself, “What sort of lyrics can I write to market to this specific audience?” It doesn’t seem organic to me at all. Not to mention use of the word “orient” (is it 1956?). Yes, I know that every pop star does this, but at least the others don’t make themselves seem like they are the antithesis of mainstream, or at least they’re not on soapboxes shouting about it. I went to her show in Hartford and it all seemed very fake and mechanic, especially the way she inserted the word “Hartford” into the script of the show like a computerized message (and didn’t even apologize for canceling her first show in Connecticut). Shame, she’s very talented instrumentally and vocally, and I do like the characters she invents, but I’ve really fallen off the Gaga train.
I never actually liked her butttttttt… this is exactly how I feel!
I need Kyu on my dashboard stat yet no one is spamming Kyuhyun at the moment.
Foresight, save me.

S: I have a ton of favorite songs, but one that will always stick out to me is “Read My Mind” by The Killers. :)
F: I hate raw onions, I taught myself the dance to “I’m A Slave 4 U”, I get very stutter-y when I’m nervous.
N: 7 or any double digit with 7 in it. I’m not sure why. lol!
“French Navy” by Camera Obscura
You make me go, “Oooh”
With the things that you do, you do, you do
I wanted to control it
But love, I couldn’t hold it
Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral.
Leaving Hope by Nine Inch Nails.
Beautiful, noisy, perfect and fitting. It captures that fleeting sensation.
Definitely a funeral song.
I agree. But I kinda also want Closer played at my funeral to break up the tension and people can get funky.
I mean it’s a funeral but why does it have to be sad *all* the time you know?
Whenever I hear this I think of cartoon Atticus being sad or us being retarded listening to it in the car and “singing” along. Forever ruined.

Someone Who Will Never Let You Fall
Hang in there and wait for that one person who will change everything, because once they change everything, your life will be beautiful.
I hope everybody is fortunate enough to have somebody in their life just like that. I have somebody like that. Thanks for calling.
if susskind is right (I tend to think he is), those ripples at the edge of the universe mean something big.
